2019 Jazz Line Up

Sharon Rae North, Glennroy Bailey feat. Debo Dabney and the legendary Doc Branch and the Keynotes are among the acts playing the 2019 St. Elizabeth Jazz & Food Festival. The 11th St. E’s Jazz Festival will take place Saturday, August 3, from noon to 7:30 PM. Bring your chairs and come early for the best seating in the shade.

Sharon Rae North is a talented songstress who sings jazz Her latest album, a Smooth Jazz/Adult Contemporary EP titled Sincerely Yours was a first ballot contender in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards in 2017 and has had two songs hit the Billboard Smooth Jazz Chart.

The Glennroy & Company Jazz Quartet has been together for over twenty years. This group of talented, entertaining specialist plays classical, jazz, religious, R&B, and mild top forty tunes. Their love and passion for music throughout the years have caused them to be one of the “best” known groups from the Richmond area.

The Legendary Doc Branch and his band the Keynotes have the longest running old-school jazz and blues Jam Session in Richmond, and maybe in the whole wide world. The band started playing 33 years ago at the same Meadow and Broad location Traditional Jazz, Funk, Soul, and Blues Jam Session, the performers bring the flavor.

Paige Melton has experience singing with numerous ensembles, including VCU’s Jazz Orchestra I and the Monument City Jazz Trio. The Trio consists of Ken Kellner on upright bass, Todd Woodson on drums, and Randy Melton on piano. This group of seasoned musicians has performed with many local and regional bands.

MICHAEL HAWKINS
Michael Hawkins is a versatile and well-rounded virtuoso Jazz bassist, playing and writing in multiple sub-genres and on both acoustic and electric bass. Hawkins has recorded and toured extensively with acclaimed pianist Cyrus Chestnut, Eric Reed and John Hicks, saxophonist Donald Harrison, Jimmy Heath, Gary Bartz, and Antonio Art.
